Places to Stay in Maleny

photo of maleny farmstayYou’d be suprised how many visitors come to the Maleny region every year. It seems to most like a sleepy, coastal hinterland secret, but in reality it’s gaining a lot of popularity with both interstate and international travellers as a haven for peace and quiet. A large part of the appeal, I think, is due to the fact that the community embraces this type of tourism, rather than shunning visitors and therefore the are resonates well with the people who come to visit.

This open-arms approach is really evident when you look at the number of private accommodation options that have sprung up in the area over the last decade or so. So many of the earlier visitors have packed up and decided to head for the hills permanently and set up their own businesses to provide to others what captured their hearts many years earlier. A great benefit of this, is the fact that these couple know the strengths of the region and are able to guide you int he right direction to make the most of your stay.

The one advantage of having such a wide array of lodgings, is that no matter what the season, it is reasonably easy to find a place to stay on relatively short notice. Another plus is that you don’t need to blow the budget finding a great place to stay the night, with plenty of lower priced options for families or particularly budget-conscious guests. Of course, the high-end luxury market is also covered, with a myriad of private cottages, chalets and cabins scattered throughout the mountains.

Various hotels and motels are located within close proximity to the main street, Maple Street. As you move further out of town, into the surrounding townships of Witta, Montville and Mapleton, the accommodation turns to the more boutique establishments such as bed and breakfast outfits run by local couples, or upmarket cottages.
